Here you can find answers to some of the questions we get asked a lot. If you can't find the answer you're looking for, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Yes, this is the same ol' 3D Realms -- the nearly 30-year-old company. But with new leadership, fresh talent and the help of industry legends, we're bringing back 3D Realms in full force. The future holds many things, both in terms of digital distribution, publishing, new IP development and game development. We'll have more details to share later on!
3D Realms is actually Apogee. Back in the mid-nineties, we released Stargunner, our final game under the Apogee name. We then changed our name to 3D Realms. The company is still legally called Apogee, and it's the same Apogee most of you remember -- the same Apogee behind more than 30 games. The new Apogee (not related to us), have licensed the old logo and name and are not affiliated with us (Apogee/3D Realms).
Yes! Founder Scott Miller, Manager Bryan Turner, and Community Manager Joe Siegler are all back. The very first employees of 3D Realms!
George is a very close friend of ours -- he's a huge part of the heart and soul of 3D Realms. George is still connected to us, but isn't active at this time. The door is always open, of course, and we hope to see George back in action in the future!
You're welcome! 3D Realms is very close to our hearts, and we believe there's a lot of history that needs to be preserved. We're extremely proud to carry the torch into a new era and can't wait to show you what we have in store for the future!
We'll be launching a Merchandise section later this year, where you'll be able to purchase 3D Realms merchandise, such as t-shirts, framed posters and more. Stay tuned!
Actually, every title available on the store has been directly distributed by the official 3D Realms site for years. We've simply updated the storefront from the old 1999 design to a more modern look for 2014.
Yes, tax is included in the price of every product available on the site.
Your free and purchased games can be found in the "My Games" section, which can be found on the website's top navigation menu.
Currently the 3D Realms Anthology, Re-rockestrated Soundtrack and all other games are only available as a digital download.
Max Payne 1 & 2 as well as Prey are no longer distributed directly from 3D Realms. Shadow Warrior 2013 is distributed by Devolver Digital. We've linked directly to the distributors of these games in the individual product pages.
We've made a range of titles free over the few past years. All of those titles are automatically added to your account when you register here, on the official 3D Realms website. Awesome, right?
We're aiming for a Linux release later this year. There are also plans to bring it to game console(s), but specific platform availability is not available at this time.
Yes! If you buy the Anthology, every game specified on the 3D Realms Anthology product page will be added to your games library. In other words, you'll own the entire library of Apogee and 3D Realms games.
Max Payne, Prey and Shadow Warrior (2013) are sold directly from the distributors of each game. We have linked to the Steam pages of the games directly from our website.
Yes, those three titles (Balls of Steel, Xenophage, & Dark Ages) will eventually be added in via a patch to the 3DR/Standalone version of the Anthology, but not at the same time as the Steam version.
If you purchased the 3D Realms Anthology before May 5, 2015 you can email us at [email protected] with your purchase information (Email and Order Number) and receive a Steam Key.
Re-rockestrated is a compilation of original, completely re-mastered tracks from the legacy of Apogee and 3D Realms. It includes 9 tracks, which have been carefully chosen and re-composed by Andrew Hulshult, the in-house composer at 3D Realms and Interceptor. You can read more about the soundtrack here: https://www.3drealms.com/catalog/3d-realms-anthology-re-rockestrated_51
The soundtrack comes with 320kbps MP3s, FLACs, and 24-bit WAVs.
We have a range of freeware titles on the site. You automatically receive all of them in your "My Games" library when creating an account.
In the 3D Realms Anthology, the Xbox 360 controller is set as the standard controller (besides your keyboard, of course). By pressing CTRL+F1 at any time, you can map your controller to fit your play style.
